Student Loan Relief overview
OhioHealth offers Student Loan Coaching through EdAssist, designed to support associates who currently have student loans and those that are looking to achieve their educational goals.
Student Loan Coaching includes expert education loan relief guidance sessions. Participating associates receive an individualized assessment of their current student loan situation. Participating associates can also receive an analysis and review of options to reduce loan debt, and correct current/past issues most effectively.
Eligibility
Associates must be in Active or Paid Leave status and must work 32 work hours in a pay period. Associates will be eligible upon hire date to participate in the benefit.
Get Help with Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
The PSLF program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 on-time monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for OhioHealth. EdAssist will guide you directly to the PSLF Help Tool to identify eligibility and submit your application and annual certification information directly to the Department of Education.
Coaching Topics
Associates can receive coaching on the following topics:
- Identifying loan repayment goals and understanding rights and responsibilities
- Loan Forgiveness guidance
- Guidance on associate’s own education loans or those borrowed by associate for dependents
- Evaluating repayment and refinancing plans and choosing the right one
- Sourcing cash flow that can be used to pay education debt
- Developing and maintaining a repayment strategy
- Reducing monthly payments
- Reducing total debt
- Simplifying loan repayment process
- Avoiding or rehabilitating a default
U.S. based education loans eligible for Loan Coaching include:
- Federal Perkins Loans
- Private Student Loans
- Subsidized Stafford Loans (FFELP/Direct)
- Unsubsidized Stafford Loans (FFELP/Direct)
- Health Professional Loans
- PLUS Loans (FFELP/Direct)
- Student Consolidation Loans
- Student Refinance Loans
- State Loans
Taking Advantage of the Benefit
Associates will have access to the intuitive and easy to use EdAssist website. From there associates will have support through our integrated resource library and self-scheduler, where associates can sign up for coaching appointments.
